Reflecting on Yardi’s 40th anniversary this year, founder and CEO Anant Yardi shared a few memories about the early days. In the 1980s, Mr. Yardi said that one of the benefits of Yardi software was that it only required a single floppy disk, while it was common in those days for systems to use three or four.
“At any point of time throughout the last 40 years, there was always a vision and a goal,” Mr. Yardi said. Despite early setbacks, he relied on “tenacity and a degree of stubbornness to keep at it, accompanied by optimism and clarity.”
In the late 1990s, his father encouraged him to quit while he was ahead, suggesting that as the business grew larger, the more complaints and challenges he would encounter.
Mr. Yardi politely declined to follow the advice.
“Behind every challenge lurks an opportunity, so when you’re challenged, recognize there is an opportunity lurking behind it. I would like to see the journey continue with all these traditions and guiding principles. At the end of these 40 years, there’s humility and gratitude. In terms of gratitude, without our clients and employees, this wouldn’t have happened,” Mr. Yardi said.
Time has proven him right. Since the late 1990s, Yardi has grown from a staff of 300 to over 9,500.
2018: Enter Yardi Breeze
Yardi Breeze has only been around since 2018, but it’s taken root as one of the industry’s fastest growing and most powerful all-in-one property management systems for small to mid-sized companies. It has become, and will continue to be, a bedrock of our commitment to the real estate SMB industry.
Sara Patterson, director of customer support for Yardi Breeze, said, “It’s incredible to reflect on the remarkable changes in technology and our products over the last 40 years.”
One thing that has remained constant is our unwavering commitment to taking care of our clients. “For four decades, our top priority has been to provide best-in-class service and support. We are proud of our legacy and look forward to continuing this tradition for many more years to come,” said Patterson.
Yardi Breeze Vice President Chris Ulep also weighed in on the company’s legacy, saying, “We built this company on small and midsized property management businesses, and I’m happy to say we maintain our commitment and focus to this market.”
Now more than ever, property management solutions are available for almost any business on any budget. “We firmly believe that software can be affordable and accessible, and it can help all companies become more efficient, regardless of portfolio size,” said Ulep.
Focus on community
