Yardi + SentiLink: Deter CPN fraud with an extra later of security

Yardi Breeze and Yardi Breeze Premier clients using ScreeningWorks Pro will now have access to SentiLink’s best-in-class fraud detection tools for free. This new collaboration between Yardi and SentiLink will help residential property managers detect applications with fake or manipulated credit profiles, including those involving Credit Privacy Number (CPN) fraud.

“Synthetic fraud is a growing threat in the industry, and we are committed to help safeguard our clients against it by teaming up with SentiLink,” said Patrick Hennessey, vice president at Yardi.

Fighting CPNs

A CPN is a nine-digit number used in place of a Social Security Number, but it’s not issued by the government and is illegal to use on an application. It is often marketed to consumers as a credit repair method or a way to bypass traditional screening methods. SentiLink’s synthetic fraud solution uses advanced machine learning to detect when an applicant is using fabricated or purchased identity data, including CPNs.

Full integration

SentiLink technology is integrated directly into the ScreeningWorks Pro platform. Through this collaboration, property managers can flag potential application risk, reduce unnecessary reviews, lower losses due to fraud and expedite leasing for qualified applicants.

“With Yardi and SentiLink, the rental housing market can seamlessly up its technology game to cut fraud losses, reduce manual workloads and get qualified applicants through the process more smoothly,” said Vivek Ahuja, head of strategic partnerships at SentiLink. “Synthetic fraud is far more prevalent than you might think. Applicants using a CPN to commit synthetic identity fraud have historically been hard to detect and are a high risk for non-payment.”

ScreeningWorks Pro screening clients can leverage added protection from SentiLink starting early March 2025.

SentiLink reviews consumer data provided at the point of application to prevent synthetic fraud, identity theft and emerging forms of first-party fraud. By combining proprietary data and deep insight on fraud and identity, SentiLink’s unique approach and innovative product suite help manage risk, reduce fraud and approve qualified tenants faster. Founded in 2017 by Naftali Harris and Max Blumenfeld, creators of the risk and fraud systems at online lender Affirm, SentiLink has raised $85M to date from investors including Andreessen Horowitz, Craft Ventures and NYCA Partners, among others.
